On Sunday, April 25th the Florida Alliance Girls Hockey program recognized the 2020-21 seniors. They included Gianna Fortunato, Mary Cossentino, Larisa Gorgevska-Sharpe, Molly Peterson, Grace Anderson, Sofia Alvarez, Madison Ridky, Ciera Porter, Emily Dray, and Ava Ridolfi.

Pat Moreau, the Head Coach for the 19U team commented, “Its a bitter sweet time for us, we worked our way through every game and practice together. After we compete for the last time together at USA Hockey Nationals this week, everything will change and these girls start the next chapters in their lives. These girls are going on to do great things on and off the ice. We made districts, now nationals, tomorrow will be college orientation, careers taking shape and we know we’ll see them return to Florida.”

Shawn Ray, Program Director and Coach said, “We started out with a couple girls that loved playing hockey in a time where girls were far and few between. We showed up at Districts as a independent team and nobody had heard of the team or any of our girls. Without their love of the game, their passion, and commitment, the building blocks of what is now the Florida Alliance Girls Hockey may not of happened. These girls are special, they fought and sacrificed a lot, and to see them competing in Nationals this year, proved we could keep these student athletes in Florida. We were able to keep them together with their family and friends and still get them to college hockey.”
