About the Program
Where We Started
FL Alliance Girls Hockey was founded in 2018 with a simple but ambitious goal: to create a true development pathway for elite female hockey players in Florida.
Our inaugural season began with just two teams and 24 players, fielding a U14AA and U16AA team. From the very beginning, those teams set the tone for what the Alliance would becomeโ€”competitive, driven, and committed to excellence. Both teams enjoyed strong seasons, earning multiple tournament successes and ultimately capturing the first SE District Championship, advancing to the USA Hockey National Tournament in our first year.

Raising the Standard
Following two successful seasons at the AA level, the Alliance took the next step in its evolution. In 2020, FL Alliance became the first Tier I girls hockey program in the state of Florida, raising the bar for female player development in the region.
That season marked a turning point for the program. Competing at the Tier I level allowed our athletes to showcase their abilities on a national stage and gain exposure to NCAA Division I and III college coaches. Once again, the program advanced to the USA Hockey National Tournament, further establishing FL Alliance as a premier destination for elite girls hockey.
Growth & National Recognition
Since its founding, the program has grown from 24 players to over 125 athletes across 9 teams in the 2021 season, making FL Alliance one of the largest and most respected girls hockey programs in the region.
Under the direction of Shawn Ray, the program has earned recognition not only on the ice, but throughout the NCAA hockey community for its commitment to development, professionalism, and player advancement.
To date, more than 35 FL Alliance players have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, along with numerous athletes continuing their careers in ACHA programs. Our alumni have gone on to play at institutions such as:

  • University of Maine
  • Elmira College
  • SUNY Plattsburgh
  • Norwich University
  • and many more
Where We Are Now
Today, FL Alliance continues to serve as a premier development program for high-level female hockey players who aspire to compete at the highest levels of the game.
Our focus remains on:
  • Long-term player development
  • High-level training and competition
  • College preparation and exposure
  • Teaching the details, habits, and mindset required to succeed
Where We're Going
Our mission is simple: To provide elite female hockey players with the training, structure, and guidance needed to reach their full potential and compete at the highest level possible.
We will continue to grow responsibly, develop strong student-athletes, and create opportunities for young women to pursue their hockey dreamsโ€”whether that leads to NCAA hockey, higher levels of competition, or lifelong involvement in the game.
We are incredibly proud of what has been built, and even more proud of the players who have worn the FL Alliance jersey and represented our program with class, work ethic, and passion.
Alliance Players
Florida Alliance Girls hockey is committed to developing girl student-athletes on and off the ice. Our program offers advancing life skills, enriching experiences, and bringing national competition to Florida players.
