Girls Hockey Director – FL Alliance
Shawn Ray enters his 34th year of coaching with a proven track record of player development, leadership, and long-term commitment to the game of hockey. As one of the original founders of the girls FL Alliance program, Shawn has been instrumental in building one of Florida’s premier girls hockey programs since its inception in 2018.
Prior to launching the Girls Alliance program, Coach Ray spent many years coaching on the boys’ side, where he helped develop over 300 players who went on to compete at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, as well as numerous athletes who continued on to professional hockey, including the NHL.
Recognizing the need for a high-level development pathway for female players in Florida, Shawn founded the FL Alliance Girls Program with a clear vision: to provide elite-level training, competitive opportunities, and exposure while allowing players to develop and remain close to home. Since 2018, more than 35 Alliance players have gone on to commit to NCAA Division I and Division III programs, a testament to the program’s structure, coaching, and long-term development philosophy.
Coach Ray is deeply committed to helping young female athletes reach their full potential, both on and off the ice. His focus on skill development, hockey IQ, work ethic, and character continues to prepare players for success at the next level and beyond.
